Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program Print E-mail

The purpose of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program is to help raise the level of educational attainment in Indiana and to leverage further the ability of Indiana's community foundations to enhance the quality of life of the state's residents.

Lilly Endowment Inc. provides funding through Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI) to eligible Indiana community foundations to participate in the scholarship program.

The program provides for full tuition, required fees, and an $800 book stipend for required books and equipment for four years of undergraduate study on a full-time basis, leading to a baccalaureate degree at any accredited Indiana public or private college or university.

For 2007, the Pulaski County Community Foundation is eligible to nominate 2 Pulaski County high school graduates for full-tuition scholarships.

The program is open to all Indiana residents who will graduate by the end of June 2007 from a regionally accredited Indiana high school, and who have been accepted to pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study.

The Endowment hopes this program will encourage many of Indiana's most talented students to attend one of the state's fine higher education institutions and after graduation consider pursuing occupations in Indiana.

Lilly Endowment Inc. is an Indianapolis-based, private philanthropic foundation, created in 1937 by three members of the Lilly family - J.K. Lilly, Sr., and sons, J.K. and Eli - through gifts of stock in their pharmaceutical business, Eli Lilly and Company.
These gifts remain the financial bedrock of the Endowment. However, Lilly Endowment is a separate entity from the company, with a distinct governing board, staff and location.
In keeping with the wishes of its three founders, Lilly Endowment exists to support the causes of religion, education and community development. Although the Endowment also supports efforts of national significance and an occasional international project, it remains primarily committed to its hometown, Indianapolis, and home state, Indiana.
